Allyson BiasThe key to happiness: dopamine dressingBarnthouse didn't create the concept of dopamine dressing, but she lives by it. "Every day when I get ready, I'm really excited for my coffee, and I'm really excited to get dopamine dressed," she told BI. AdvertisementPut simply, the mom of two says dopamine dressing ultimately means you "dress better to feel better." In Barnthouse's case, dopamine dressing looks like tulle tops, platform heels, sparkling skirts, and countless jewel-toned gems across her hands, ears, and neck. "Dopamine dressing is really about dressing in a way that makes you feel good.

After living there for 20 years, she saw herself as an immigrant, rather than an expat. I'm in the toothpaste aisle at Target, dumbfounded by a selection that runs several shelves long and as many high. After more than 20 years in Cuba, where Close-Up and La Perla were the only choices for most of that time, I'm overwhelmed by the number of options. In Cuba, moreover, women have full autonomy over their bodies, which I feel is the only way it should be. Comfort food, like a juicy hamburger, is one of the great things about living back in the US.

But the College Democrats insist their worries are also rooted in what they see as the Biden campaign’s unwillingness to grasp the scope of how difficult it is becoming to engage young voters. A mixed picturePolling of young voters on the Israel-Hamas War, specifically about its effect on Biden’s campaign, presents a mixed picture. Only 18% of young voters approved of Biden’s handling of the Israel-Hamas war, according to the Harvard/IOP poll. Seth Schuster, a spokesman for the Biden campaign, touted its investment in engaging young voters. It is even hard for young people to talk to other young people about how to do this,” the Democratic strategist said.

Pacific Gas & Electric announced plans on Tuesday to sell a minority stake in its power-generation business, part of its strategy to reduce electricity rates, continue wildfire prevention and further develop clean energy. The exclusive deal with the global investment firm KKR is part of PG&E’s plan to transfer its nonnuclear power generation to a newly formed subsidiary, Pacific Generation. The proposals for the subsidiary and the KKR stake require approval by the California Public Utilities Commission and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. KKR, which manages $59 billion in assets, operates a global infrastructure business with expertise in the utility and renewable energy industry. PG&E said in a statement that the investment firm’s access to capital gave it the ability to take a long-term approach in its strategies.

Ancient DNA pulls back curtain on mysterious empire

Editor’s note: A version of this story appeared in CNN’s Wonder Theory science newsletter. Analysis of ancient DNA recovered from human remains has illuminated the traits and ancestry of historic individuals — be it a mummified iceman, Chinese emperor or legendary composer. The origins of the empire and its people remained obscure until a landmark April 2022 study found they hailed from the Mongolian steppe. Raul Rubiera | Miami Herald | Getty ImagesWhen Carolyn Lamb saw news of Cuban spy Victor Manuel Rocha's arrest on the news last December, she recognized him immediately. The lower the value of the claims, the less the Cuban government would have to pay in any future negotiated settlement. Ashby assumed Rocha's paranoia about eavesdropping was in response to the George W. Bush administration's opposition to the Cuba claims buying business. But according to the Justice Department, by that point Rocha was already in his third decade as a Cuban agent. Don Wright, a two-time Pulitzer Prize-winning editorial cartoonist whose pointed work punctured duplicity and pomposity and resonated with common-sense readers, died on March 24 at his home in Palm Beach, Fla. His death was confirmed by his wife, Carolyn Wright, a fellow journalist. In a 45-year career, Mr. Wright drew some 11,000 cartoons for The Miami News, which folded in 1988, and then The Palm Beach Post, where he worked until he retired in 2008. But he reached a readership far beyond Florida: His cartoons appeared in newspapers nationwide through syndication. Mr. Wright’s readers knew where he stood, and especially what he was against, whether it was the Vietnam War; Israel’s military support for the pro-apartheid regime in South Africa (he depicted a menorah with missiles in place of candles); sexual abuse by clergymen; the John Birch Society, the anti-Communist fringe group; and racial segregationists, notably the violent Ku Klux Klan.

Introduced predators kill about 25 million native birds in New Zealand annually, with about 4,000 native species threatened or at risk of extinction, according to the DOC. Under the program, the government plans to eradicate rats, possums (a marsupial native to the Americas), weasels, ferrets — and the pesky stoat. Chalky Island and the neighboring Passage Islands have been predator-free since 1999 following the first ever stoat eradication campaign, according to the DOC. And for Fleming, the recent stoat incursion only underscores the importance of the Predator Free 2050 plan. “If we eradicate stoats from Aotearoa (New Zealand) completely we remove the costs of incursions, and our wildlife can thrive alongside us,” he said.

Athletes tend to have an advantage when it comes to preparing for high-G-force flights as they may already have significant lower body strength. AdvertisementHandling the real thingThe two main mechanisms of AGSM that prevent a pilot from passing out are calculated breathing and the squeezing of the lower body. Before the pilot even enters G-force onset while flying, they have to flex their lower body like their glutes, hamstrings and other muscles as tight as they can. "It's not a normal breath, it's a forced air exchange where you are essentially forcing the glottis open and closed really, really rapidly," Price Moore described. For instance, among other incidents, both the Navy Blue Angels and Air Force Thunderbirds have lost demonstration pilots to G-LOC.

Read previewWhen Georgia Hunter began researching her family history and writing "We Were the Lucky Ones" in 2008, she didn't expect it to become a bestselling novel, and even less a Hulu series that she'd coproduce. For books specifically, it can help when a novel or series has had great success in stores, but it's not the only consideration. He's a decades-long friend of both Hunter and Lipez, the showrunner, who he brought the book to in 2019. The audience success of the novel certainly helped in making the decision to adapt the book, too, Helman said. "The book and the true story of these characters were mothers and fathers who wanted to protect their children.

Overwhelming evidence suggests social media has a negative impact on self-esteem. That's not only true for how people feel about their appearance and social status but also their financial wellbeing and economic standing. "Money dysmorphia is kind of like today's version of keeping up with the Joneses," said Courtney Alev, consumer financial advocate at Credit Karma. Ghislaine Maxwell's lawyers are arguing for her release in a federal appeals court. The appeal focuses on a non-prosecution agreement between Jeffrey Epstein and federal prosecutors. A jury in Manhattan federal court found Maxwell guilty on sex-trafficking charges in December 2021, four days after her 60th birthday that Christmas. Alison Nathan, the judge who oversaw Maxwell's trial, sentenced her to 20 years in prison and issued a $750,000 fine. The Supreme Court agreed to hear Trump's immunity claims around charges of election subversion. Trump stands to benefit from SCOTUS hearing because it could delay his trial, legal experts say. Special counsel Jack Smith's federal case against Trump cannot proceed until the Supreme Court makes its decision, which could take months. AdvertisementKalir, who is pretty confident the court will not grant Trump immunity, said it largely comes down to how merit-less the legal argument in favor of absolute immunity is. Krissoff added that the Supreme Court is likely to issue as narrow a ruling as possible.
